“The famous night” of the Redeemer is perhaps the most beautiful feast celebrated in Venice. Since 1577, on the second Sunday in July, the city pays homage to the Redeemer for the end of the terrible plague, with a votive pontoon bridge of boats connecting the Zattere to the Giudecca, and a magnificent fireworks display. The stretch of water between St. Mark's and the Giudecca teems with vessels of all kinds right from the early hours of the afternoon, partying until midnight and the fireworks festival.
